What are the Alternative Investment Fund Managers (‘AIFMs’)?
Alternative Investment Fund Managers or otherwise called ‘AIFMs’ are Firms whose regular business is the managing of one or more collective investments such as the Alternative Investment Funds ‘AIFs’.
AIFMs are licensed and supervised by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission pursuant to the Law 56(I)/2013 on Alternative Investment Fund Managers
The Alternative Investment Fund Managers Law applies to the following legal entities:
AIFMs of the Republic which manage one or more AIFs, irrespective of whether such AIFs are EU AIFs or non-EU AIFs
EU AIFMs, which manage one or more AIFs, irrespective of whether such AIFs are EU AIFs or non-EU AIFs
Non-EU AIFMs, which manage one or more EU AIFs
Non-EU AIFMs, which market one or more AIFs in a Member State, irrespective of whether such AIFs are EU AIFs or non-EU AIFs
